What we store on our servers: nothing

Litestream has no account system and no backend for streaming. Your video and audio go from your phone to the platforms you chose; they never pass through us. The only server-side component is a small stateless service that exchanges a Facebook sign-in code for an access token, because that exchange requires an application secret that must not live on a phone. It keeps no request, stores no token, and writes no log line containing a sign-in code or a token.

What stays on your phone

• Facebook Page access tokens and any stream keys you typed yourself, in the platform keystore (Android Keystore, iOS Keychain).
• Comments received while you were live, in a local database that is pruned after 30 days.
• Diagnostic logs, in memory only, with tokens and stream keys masked. They leave the device only if you tap Export and choose where to send them.
• Google and YouTube tokens are not stored by Litestream at all; the Google sign-in component holds them and we ask it for a short-lived one when we need it.

What we ask for, and why

• YouTube — youtube.force-ssl: to create the broadcast you are about to stream to and to read its live chat.
• Facebook — pages_show_list, pages_read_engagement, pages_manage_posts, pages_read_user_content, publish_video: to list the Pages you manage, create the live video, and read the comments on it.

Litestream adds a short tag such as [ls:…] to the description of a broadcast it creates, so that if the app crashes it can find and end the broadcast it left running.

What we never do

No analytics, no advertising identifiers, no third-party trackers, no sale or sharing of your data, and no reading of anything on an account beyond the Pages or channel you connected.
